Reading doesn't have to be a battleground. After a long hiatus, I'm back with a critical message for parents and educators alike: we may be unknowingly turning kids away from books through three common mistakes.

I've sadly seen a lot of children resisting reading in the past 5 years. It has been heartbreaking. When we lose the passion for something, we stop doing it. I believe there are things we can do to create passionate lovers of reading. I hope you stick around.

Inspiring children to fall in love with reading can be one of the most rewarding gifts you can receive as a teacher. Sometimes it can be quite tricky. Reluctant readers often struggle to find books they love due to fears they have about themselves as readers. This is why it is so crucial to introduce kids to fantastic books. Because there is a book for everyone! We just need to find the one to hook them.
