WHY I AM HERE TO HELP:
Hi, I’m Trina Deboree, M.Ed., and I’ve spent over 30 years as a public school teacher and literacy advocate, helping kids discover the magic of reading.
But what fuels my passion isn’t my own story—it’s my children and my students.
I’ve watched my son struggle with reading and school, feeling defeated before he even began. I’ve seen my daughter wrestle with the pressure of timed tests, questioning her worth because a stopwatch told her she wasn’t “fast enough.” And I’ve stood in classrooms and media centers, surrounded by kids who deserved to fall in love with books but were stuck in a system that valued benchmarks over joy.
I couldn’t stand by and let that happen. So, I made it my mission to create a space where reading became magical again—a source of confidence, curiosity, and connection. I’ve spent decades helping kids see themselves as capable, confident readers and supporting parents and teachers in fostering that same love at home and in the classroom.
This workshop brings together everything I’ve learned—practical strategies that fit into real life, emotional support for the tough moments, and tools to help your child build a lifelong love of reading. Because every child deserves to feel the joy, confidence, and possibility that books bring.
